KPV Peptide – Potent Anti-Inflammatory Tripeptide
(Lys-Pro-Val | 10mg)
KPV is an extremely biologically active synthetic tri-peptide developed from the c-terminal portion (aa #11 – 13) of the naturally occurring alpha melanocyte stimulating hormone (alpha MSH). The biologically potent yet compact nature of this tri-peptide has generated interest as a therapeutic agent in numerous pre-clinical studies due to its ability to modulate various aspects of the immune response including; anti-inflammation, anti-inflammatory immunity, and protection of damaged tissues. One of the most appealing features of KPV is that it retains all of the biological activity associated with full length alpha MSH but is far more stable and can be more easily manipulated within the confines of laboratory settings.
The use of KPV in regenerative medicine as well as in inflammatory disease model systems are highly valued. The reason for the high value placed on KPV for these types of studies lies in its specificity towards reducing inflammation at the cellular levels rather than acting as a broad based immunosuppressant. As such, KPV is often used as a tool to study potential therapeutic interventions in areas of gut health, dermatology, wound healing and systemic inflammatory conditions. Due to its small molecular structure KPV is efficiently taken up by cells through PepT1 transporters allowing for direct intra-cellular activation/modulation of inflammatory signaling pathways.
The Science Behind KPV
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) functions primarily through inhibition of several pro-inflammatory signal transduction cascades; these include, but are not limited to the NF-kappa B cascade, and various mitogen activated protein (MAP) kinases. The overall result is a decrease in the generation of inflammatory cytokines including TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-1 beta and others. KPV has demonstrated other mechanisms of action that involve antioxidant activity and support for mucosal barrier function. Its ability to act at the level of or distal to melanocortin receptors in some model systems, suggests that in those models, KPV can produce anti-inflammatory effects independent of its receptor activation. As such, there may be broader application of this compound in future studies than if its mechanism were dependent upon melanocortin receptor activation.
KPV has demonstrated efficacy in pre-clinical studies to reduce inflammation similar to corticosteroids, however its use would have a better risk/benefit ratio than corticosteroid therapy and without associated systemic side effects. Once inside intestinal epithelial cells and/or immunocytes KPV will utilize the di/tri-peptide transporter PepT1 to enter said cells, after which it will inhibit inflammatory responses directly.
Key Research-Backed Benefits
- Powerful Anti-Inflammatory Effects KPV potently downregulates NF-κB activation and pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Research in cell cultures and animal models demonstrates significant reductions in inflammation across multiple tissues, making it a leading candidate for studying chronic inflammatory conditions.
- Gastrointestinal Protection & Gut Barrier Restoration Extensive studies highlight KPV’s cytoprotective role in the GI tract. In colitis and IBD animal models (DSS and TNBS-induced), KPV reduced weight loss, histologic damage, myeloperoxidase activity, and inflammatory markers while preserving tight junctions and mucosal architecture. It supports research on leaky gut, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and microbiome balance.
- Skin Health & Dermatological Repair KPV promotes epidermal renewal, reduces skin inflammation, and supports wound healing. It has been investigated for conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, acne, and general dermal irritation. Its ability to modulate local immune responses while enhancing barrier function makes it valuable for dermatology and cosmetic research.
- Immune Modulation Without Broad Suppression KPV helps balance immune responses by targeting excessive inflammation while preserving necessary immune vigilance. This selective action is ideal for research into autoimmune models, systemic inflammation, and conditions where traditional immunosuppressants carry higher risks.
- Wound Healing & Tissue Protection By reducing inflammation and oxidative stress at injury sites, KPV supports faster tissue repair, reduced scarring, and improved healing outcomes. It shows promise in both internal (gut, lung) and external (skin) wound models.
Additional Research Applications & Highlights
- High-Purity Research Grade —> ≥99% HPLC verified for consistent, reproducible laboratory results.
- Convenient Format —> Lyophilized powder in 10mg vials, easy to reconstitute for various experimental protocols (oral, injectable, or topical models).
- Versatile Use Cases —> Inflammatory bowel disease models, dermatological studies, wound healing assays, airway inflammation, systemic inflammation, and combination therapy research (often paired with BPC-157 or other regenerative peptides).
- Stability —> Stable peptide with excellent solubility when properly reconstituted; suitable for short- and medium-term research protocols.
Why Researchers Choose KPV
Its small molecular size, targeted mechanism, strong preclinical efficacy, and favorable safety profile in studies make KPV a standout tool for investigating inflammation resolution and tissue recovery. It serves as an excellent complement to structural repair peptides like BPC-157, creating synergistic protocols in regenerative research.
Important Research & Compliance Note: KPV is sold strictly for in vitro and preclinical laboratory research use only. It is not intended for human or veterinary consumption, diagnostic, or therapeutic purposes. Human clinical data remains limited; all referenced benefits are derived from individual peptide studies in cell cultures and animal models. Researchers must comply with all institutional guidelines, local regulations, ethical standards, and safety protocols. Consult qualified professionals for any research application.
Unlock targeted anti-inflammatory research with KPV — the precise, potent tripeptide for exploring inflammation control, gut integrity, and skin regeneration at the molecular level. A must-have for laboratories advancing regenerative and immunomodulatory science.
